Sound artist, bass player and electroacoustic composer active on the experimental scene for 30 years, Floy Krouchi aka drfloy explores sound matter through her instrument, the bass.
Fascinated by microtonality, by the depth and meditative power of sound, she immerses us in low frequencies and probes the potential of her hybrid bass enhanced by electronics, an instrument she designed herself: the FKBass.
Opening vast sound spaces, Floy Krouchi explores the timbral possibilities of the FKBass, transpositions, “electronic holograms,” and the raw electricity of the instrument. Throughout this piece, conceived as an “electronic raga,” she offers a contemplative and vibratory experience, at the crossroads of ambient, noise, real-time performance, and electroacoustic music.
FKBass Solo is a concert in process: a unique, organic piece in constant evolution, which Floy Krouchi conceives within a vibratory continuum.
After a series of microtonal studies in India (2019 / Institut Français tour), FKBass Solo I in 2021 (supported by DRAC Grand Est), and a FKBass Solo II tour in 2023, she now presents FKBass Solo in its Phase III (2025) in New York (Harvest Works), Barcelona (Art Santa Monica), and at the Sorores Sonores Festival in Chaumont.
