FKBass Opus II is a concert piece for FKbass, Rudra Veena, Pakhawaj , and voice.
As a first step, Floy Krouchi wrote and designed a new solo for her hybrid bass, inspired by her research in India, performed in France in a series of performances between January and April 2023, and to come, from the end of November 2023.
In October and November 2023 , she invites Jyoti Hegde, the only female Rudra Veena player, and Nikhil Ghodpadkar (Pakhawaj) thus building the final form of FKbassOPUS II: “A journey in Time and Space” , a journey inside sound and microtonality, inside time and space, between contemporary and traditional practice.
The project will be hosted in Cesare CNCM and l’Incubateur de Royaumont
It is deeply inspired by Floy’s encounter with Pandit Hindraj Divekar, Rudra Veena player in Pune, with whom she studied, and discovered a Genealogy between the oldest string instrument of hindustani Music and her fretless bass.
Since 2019, Floy Krouchi has been working on a bass augmented by electronics for which she composed several concert pieces, the FKBass . This augmented bass project is the result of a practice and reflection on microtonality and new lutheries: hybrid lutheries marrying physical instruments and electronic extensions, which raise new paradigms for composition, lutheries which renew instrumental gesture and generate new modes of playing.
